Dental Assistant

Program Description: The 1010 hour training program is divided into 650 hours of classroom theory and 360 hours of clinical instruction. This is a modular program designed to prepare the students to assist the dentist and function as a healthcare professional in an administrative and clinical capacity. Dental Theory is taught utilizing classroom lecture sessions while learning the general principals of dental assisting. The student’s externship program provides him/her with the practical experience required by dental assistant employers. The Dental Assisting program must be completed in 39 weeks.

Program Objective: Upon completion of this program, the graduate will be eligible to register for the Certified Dental Assistant Examination (CDA). A Dental Assistant program graduate will be eligible for employment as a Dental Assistant in dental practices in the areas of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral and Maxillofacial surgery, Periodontics and other dental healthcare specialties. The Florida State Board of Dentistry approves this program for the Expanded Duty/Radiology. A diploma is awarded. This program is nationally accredited by the American Dental Association.
